Melissa Belles, PMHNP*

Melissa Belles is a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) with an additional certification as an Adult Nurse Practitioner (ANP-BC). Melissa has over 30 years of psychiatric nursing experience working in both the inpatient and outpatient settings with individuals ranging in age from 13 through adult.
Ms. Belles sees her primary role in working with patients to be one of collaboration. She encourages active participation during sessions, listens carefully to issues the patient identifies and performs a comprehensive psychiatric assessment in order to make appropriate treatment recommendations. Melissa’s treatment philosophy draws heavily on the mind-body connection and utilizes principles of holistic care to help patients achieve stability and resiliency in their mental health.
While Melissa’s background and training qualifies her to provide treatment for a broad base of mental health issues, she has an additional interest in the area of addiction treatment and substance use, including opiate addiction. For this latter condition, Melissa is certified to deliver medication-assisted treatment through the use of Suboxone or Subutex.
Melissa completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from University of Phoenix and her Master’s Degree in Nursing through St. Louis University. Subsequently, Ms. Belles completed a post Master’s certification specializing in psychiatric mental health nursing across the lifespan.
