Martin Mika, APN*

Mr. Mika is a board certified Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) who specializes in Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Loyola University Chicago and also a Master’s Degree in Psychiatric Mental Health nursing from University of San Diego.  Mr. Mika’s experience as an APN includes primarily medication management services at an outpatient level. He works best with a wide variety of mental health conditions across the lifespan.

Mr. Mika’s focus on treatment includes the goal of enhancing the healing process of each individual. He promotes and encourages responsibility, autonomy, and self-care to enhance independence and a sense of empowerment. He relies on a bio-psych-social model of care, as defined by his scope of practice as a Psychiatric Advanced Practice Nurse. His goals include keeping psychiatric regimens appropriate, simple, and understandable to the patient, by gathering clinical evidence, history, prior treatments and co morbid medical conditions. Patients are regularly educated on risks and benefits of proposed treatment and options available outside of medication options to help allow informed decision making. Mr. Mika is eager to help coordinate care with other health providers to enhance quality of care.
